Sophie Hitchon, the 2010 junior world champion, smashed her own UK hammer record in Chula Vista, California, yesterday when she twice recorded throws of 71.61 metres – a distance that exceeds the ‘A’ qualifying standard for this summer’s Olympics.

How can we fail when we have athletes like this on our team!

London2012: Big Mac for the Running Track

Said to have 90 serving points, but HD will give it a miss

Macdonalds are opening the biggest Macdonalds in the world for the 6 weeks of London 2012 Olympic Games. Don’t worry too much though if you are as adverse to Macdonalds as HD, the park is served by many food outlets but they cannot brand their foods. Oh well as long as HD can get a sandwich or two somewhere.

London 2012: Completion of Second Gamesmaker Training Day Brings the Games Alive!

HD attended the second training day in central London last Saturday. It left HD with two distinct feelings. Firstly, it brought the Games alive and secondly left HD pondering whether they had been roped into an episode of Twenty Twelve (BBC2 22.00). Not because of the training. That was FIRST CLASS. More like the views from the windows in the training suites as shown in the photograph taken last Saturday, were the same as in the TV series. Spooky!

 

Meanwhile these people have had a technology preview on the 100 days to go milestone reached this week. Just 100 days!

London2012: Tommy Godwin, 91, Proves Age is No Barrier

Tommy Goodwin double medalist from 1948 is still active for the London2012 games. Although born in Connecticut, USA he was a British Track Cyclist and then a coach to the British team. He is now an Ambassador to the London Games. Here’s a sound recording and some photos of the 1948 games recorded by Tommy Godwin:
